It’s a fair question. Rental anything carries the association of “used.” And when you’re packing your bedroom or your kitchen, the last thing you want is to wonder who used these bins before you — and what they put in them.
Here’s what most people don’t realize: plastic is far easier to clean thoroughly than cardboard. Cardboard is porous. It absorbs moisture, smells, and whatever touches it. “New” cardboard may be factory-fresh, but it’s not sterile — and it degrades with each use.
Durable recyclable plastic has a hard, smooth surface. There are no fibers. There are no cracks to trap residue (assuming the bin isn’t damaged — and we check for that). It wipes clean. What Happens Between Every Rental
Every EazyCrate bin follows the same six-stage cleaning sequence — without exception. Trained EazyCrate team members run every bin through this process at a designated facility using a written procedure and documented quality-control checklist. Here’s what that looks like, from return to your doorstep.
Step 1
Return and Segregate
Returned bins enter a designated “used and uninspected” area and are kept completely separate from clean inventory until they complete all six cleaning stages. A returned bin never touches a clean bin before it’s been processed.
Step 2
Inspect First
Before any washing begins, staff remove labels and debris and check each bin individually for damage, residue, odors, and any signs of pests. Bins that don’t pass this first check are isolated before washing — not after.
Step 3
Detergent Wash
Interior and exterior surfaces — including handles, bottoms, lid edges, hinges, and nesting points — are washed with a neutral detergent. Mechanical scrubbing or controlled pressure washing is used where needed.
Step 4
Rinse and Disinfect
Bins are fully rinsed and then treated with an EPA-registered disinfectant rated for hard, nonporous plastic surfaces. The disinfectant is applied for the full labeled contact time before rinsing. This is a complete disinfection cycle — not a surface wipe.
Step 5
Complete Drying
Bins are air-dried completely before any further handling. No bin is returned to inventory until it is fully dry. Wet bins do not ship.
Step 6
Final Inspection and Release
Every bin receives a final inspection before entering clean inventory. Only bins that clear all six stages are cleared for delivery. Bins that fail at any stage are isolated until the issue is corrected or the bin is retired.
